Wavestream High Power Amplifier Selected by SIS LIVE

Amplifier to be Integrated into uPod Micro Satellite Broadcast Vehicle

San Dimas, California, October 14, 2009—Wavestream Corporation announced today that SIS LIVE, Europe’s largest outside broadcaster and uplink supplier, has selected Wavestream’s next generation Ku-band High Power Amplifier (HPA) for integration into its uPod Micro mobile satellite uplink terminal. Wavestream’s HPA is part of SIS LIVE’s uplink system delivered to ITN, news provider to ITV and Channel 4, the two largest free-to-air broadcasters in the United Kingdom. The terminal has been supplied to enhance ITN’s capabilities to provide news from around the world and initially was used for the UK political party conference season.

“SIS LIVE selected our amplifier because it is extremely powerful, yet compact and lightweight to suit their mobile broadcast facility,” stated Cliff Cooke, president and chief executive officer of Wavestream. “Our next generation solid state amplifiers have been field-proven in military SATCOM applications for several years. We are now bringing this technology to the commercial world, with SIS LIVE representing one of the first successful implementations designed for mobile broadcasting.”

Wavestream’s solid state Ku-band amplifier provides high output power in a smaller, lighter product package than traditional amplifier solutions. The company’s innovative, next generation Spatial Power Advantage™ technology improves output power while using less energy. The result is a more efficient amplifier solution to help operators reduce costs over the lifecycle of the system.

Mark Shadbolt, sales director at SIS LIVE, stated, “ITV was looking for a solution that was smaller and lighter, and required the least power consumption in the business. The Wavestream product easily met our criteria, and was also able to meet our aggressive delivery schedule.”
